Heather Lawley

Francine Katsoudas Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer Cisco

Francine Katsoudas is Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer of Cisco. She plays a major role in the company’s overall performance, leading organizational strategy, promoting operational effectiveness, and elevating team performance through innovative leadership.

She leads Cisco’s business-driven People Strategy and People Deal, both of which support and align to Cisco’s overall business strategy and are essential to driving the Company’s transformational journey. She also is evolving Cisco’s approach to strategic workforce planning with programs highlighting the skills and capabilities that employees need to be innovative in today’s technology driven environment. She fosters a culture of full spectrum participation, emphasizing inclusion and collaboration to drive exponential business value.

An 18-year veteran of Cisco, Katsoudas has extensive experience leading organizational transformations, driving large scale growth, talent acquisition, leadership development, and succession planning. Prior to her current role, she was the HR leader and business partner to the Engineering leadership team helping oversee its workforce of more than 25,000 people. She has also held leadership positions in the Service Provider, HR Operations, Customer Service, Acquisition Integration and Services groups.

Prior to Cisco, Katsoudas worked in both the financial and professional services industries with a focus on customer service and operations.

Fran is a member of the Children’s Discovery Museum Board.


Charlie Johnston

Charlie Johnston Human Resources VP – WW Sales

Charlie Johnston is Vice President of HR for Global Sales, Americas and Culture Practice. Charlie is responsible for both the operational aspects of the Human Resources function, and for all aspects of the company Culture.

Charlie joined Cisco in May 2007 as Cisco HR began a global transformation of its culture and was responsible for driving the changes within the UK and Ireland operations. His vision was to move towards an organization underpinned by a collaborative style of leadership, an empowered, open and informal culture where technology is at the heart of the way that the company does business. His focus enabled the UKI HR organization to step up to this new opportunity and drive innovative strategic HR interventions. Early in 2010, Charlie led the North/West HR Operations region, and in October 2010, he stepped up to take over HR Operations for the EMEA region. In August 2012, Charlie was chosen to lead the overall HR function for EMEAR and in July 2015 Charlie accepted the role of HR Lead for Global Sales, Americas and Culture and relocated to the West Coast US.

Prior to joining Cisco in May 2007, Charlie spent ten years at IBM, where latterly he headed up the HR function of the Global Services arm of IBM UK.

A proud Scot, Charlie studied International Business with Human Resources Management at Stirling University.

Charlie now lives in San Francisco and enjoys socializing, travelling, cars and property development


Heather Lawley

Heather Lawley is the Senior Leader for Cisco’s HR Market Acceleration.

Heather drives the engagement strategy for Cisco HR, sales teams, and customers around people and talent solutions enabled by technology. These engagements provide best practice sharing to drive strategic relationships and help customers to achieve their business, IT, and HR objectives.

In her sixteen years at Cisco, Heather has led large transformational strategies with employees, partners, and customers. Most recently, Heather spearheaded the Inclusion and Diversity gender strategy, which was designed to recruit, retain, and engage diverse talent, while creating an inclusive culture.

Additionally, Heather has led change leadership, marketing, and business development across Sales, Channels, Strategic Alliances, and Finance. Prior to Cisco, she worked at Oracle and Mercury Interactive in Channel Sales.

Heather is an avid world traveler and her passion and appreciation for diverse experiences fuel the desire to build a diverse and inclusive work place.


Alberto Roman

Alberto “Paco” Roman, Sr. Manager, HR Talent Management

Paco leads a team of learning professionals focused on the Cisco Leadership Pipeline Programs supporting our global Leader and Team development initiatives. In his 16 years at Cisco, Paco has held various leadership roles in Sales and Human Resources and has an expertise in leadership development, instructional design and performance consulting. He has also held roles in sales and sales management, recruiting, coaching and career advising. Paco has been appointed to various board and council positions including; Chairman of Conexion-RTP Latino Employee Resource Organization, RTP Civics Council, NC Association of Hispanic Professionals, North Carolina Statue University Diversity Advisory Council. He has held adjunct faculty, lecturer and teaching positions at North Carolina State University Poole College of Management, Belmont Abbey College (NC) and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (Va). Most recently Paco has presented on Leadership Development at Plymouth State University (NH) College of Business, Duke Corporate Education CLO Summit and the UNICON Executive Education Consortium, Team Development Conference.


Denise Lage

Denise Lage Vice President of the Global Unified Communications Strategy, at Yorktel

Denise Lage is Vice President of the Global Unified Communications Strategy, at Yorktel, with responsibility for building and executing the Go-to-Market UC strategy. Prior to joining Yorktel she worked in strategic business development positions at several companies. Most recently, she was at a small software company, where she was Vice President of Channel Sales|Strategic Alliances for Condeco Software, where she directed major sales and partnering initiatives.

Denise’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach. Her most recent project involved a strategic partnership with key Ecosystem partners to bring Yorktel’s services to a larger customer base. Most notable is when she joined Cisco and her time as a Strategic Business Development Executive in the newly formed TelePresence Systems Business Unit, in 2006. She was part of the small team responsible for launching and selling Cisco TelePresence. As part of the Global Business Development Team she was instrumental in helping grow the business to $250M in 4 years, winning many key accounts such as, P&G, Accenture, GE, Pepsi, Kaiser, UHG and many others.

Her next charter was the building and executing the Channel/Partner GTM strategy which was instrumental in growing the TelePresence business. With her success in driving the Channel Strategy for TelePresence she was asked to join the Cisco WW Partner Organization owning the Cloud Video Channel Go-to-Market Strategy and working closely with the Business Unit.

Denise holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of San Francisco, coursework towards an MS in Telecommunications at Golden Gate University and most recently completed the entrepreneur program at Draper University. She lives in the SF Bay Area with husband. In her free time Denise enjoys golf and tinkering in their extensive vegetable garden.


Sam Chon

Sam Chon Business Development Manager, Americas’ Collaborations Cisco Systems

Sam Chon re-joined Cisco in January, 2009 as a member of the Unified Communications & Collaboration Business Transformation team. As a member of this team, he is responsible for engaging with strategic partners and clients to identify, develop, and implement transformational business solutions that incorporate collaboration technologies from Cisco’s Unified Communications and Contact Center portfolios.

Sam brings 25+ years of technical and business development experience in high-tech industries to the team having spent 4 years in Microsoft’s Unified Communications Group and 7 years in a prior tenure with Cisco Systems. Sam also brings extensive knowledge of the IP video market having worked at PictureTel (acquired by Polycom), VideoServer, and AT&T.

Sam has in-depth knowledge of real-time communications protocols and standards (SIP, H.323, H.320, SCCP, MGCP), networking protocols and standards (IP, ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS), and voice/video protocols and standards (H.2xx, G.7xx, T.120, etc…).

Sam resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with his wife and daughter but remains a committed fanatic of the Boston RedSox, Celtics and New England Patriots.
